2025 Immigration Enforcement and Know Your Rights Resources

Immigration Enforcement and Know Your Rights Resources

At Catholic Charities, we are committed to supporting immigrant communities with the information and resources they need to navigate complex challenges. Below, you’ll find resources, programs, and actionable steps to help safeguard your rights and access support.

Know Your Rights

Understanding your rights is essential, especially when facing immigration enforcement. Here are critical resources:

  • If ICE Comes to Your Home or Stops You in Public:
    • You have the right to remain silent and refuse to answer questions.
    • ICE agents must have a judicial warrant signed by a judge to enter your home. Without it, you can refuse entry.
    • If stopped, you can ask if you are free to leave. If yes, walk away calmly. If no, remain silent and do not sign any documents.
    • For detailed guidelines, refer to our comprehensive Know Your Rights Handout.
  • Hotlines for Immigration Legal Support:
    • NYS New Americans Hotline: 1-800-566-7636
    • NYC MOIA Legal Support Hotline: 1-800-354-0365
